On February 20th at 6pm discover the gyil, the xylophone of northern Ghana. Matthew Aubeuf will perform the many different styles of gyil music, while delving into the instrument’s role in Ghanaian culture.

Gyil, a xylophone which folklore says was stolen from magical creatures, made of gourds, rosewood and spider egg sacks, purified to protect from witchcraft; is still an integral part of Ghanaian culture. On February 20th at 6pm join Matthew Aubeuf in a discussion and performance of gyil, the xylophone of northern Ghana, West Africa.
